Hydromulch is a combination of mulch, fertilizer and grass seed applied through a sprayer. Bermuda, rye and fescue are the most common types of grasses applied using the hydromulch process.
Hydromulch is less costly on the front end than sod; however it requires more water to establish the grass and cannot be used immediately.
Benefits of hydromulch over seeding include:
- Provides immediate soil erosion control, unlike traditional seeding
- Improves the appearance of the area until grass begins to grow
Controls dust; prevents birds from eating seeds
