When the evenings draw in and all you can see when you look out of the window is your own reflection, how do you know who is at the bottom of your garden? A correctly sited security light can be a very useful instrument in not only protecting your property against unwanted trespassers, but also a useful and practical fitting for other reasons.

Not only does it prevent somebody from creeping about unnoticed in what may be a secluded area or reassure you that there is nobody there when you hear strange noises, but it can also help you on that late night trip to the dustbin or aid you walking up the garden path. It is also very useful to have an override facility that allows you to switch the light on permanently, should you wish to sit out on a summer evening - or even watch the nocturnal wildlife!

A common mistake when fitting security lights is to fit them too low, (i.e. just above the back door for instance) and then every time they are triggered, you either blind the neighbours who may back on to your garden, or you dazzle yourself so much that when you walk up the garden path or pull on to the driveway, you can't really see where you are going! Our advice is to always install them at a reasonable height, so that they look downwards and provide a larger area of coverage - especially with a 500w lamp. If you do need to install them at low level, we suggest using at most, only a 150w lamp.

It is a good advice for you that if you want to get a stable, safe and good lighting you need to install the low voltage system too. Some of these hinkley exterior lighting fixtures are really easy to be installed and come with very low voltage, only with 12 volts. If you want to make fantastic water sparkling in the dark you can use the special hinkley exterior lighting that will do surprises underwater. In other words, installing these hinkley exterior lighting will help you to make a mix of color encompassing all artistic senses. For a smart choice you can take the low voltage hinkley exterior lighting those are broadly offered and used by people widely.

Globe lighting - Outdoor lighting comes in many different shapes, sizes and prices. Outdoor globe lighting are just one other way how you can light your home exterior. Globe lighting are very versatile in design and use, you can use them to increase your ambiance and create amazing landscape designs, but you can also use globe post lights or lamp post globes to illuminate your surrounding properly.

There will always be the never ending choice and debate on what globe lighting source to use. Solar lighting and low voltage lighting are both very good options but they have both their pros and cons of using. Let's first have a look how outdoor globe lighting can really be of value in your garden if you want to create amazing designs.

Outdoor lighting - Here are some cool outdoor pendant lamps by Foscarini. Your outdoor lighting setup is sure to be enhanced with these great flowing pendant lamps. These fixtures make a bold statement if that is what you are looking for in your outdoor lighting patio design. I like the long tapered fixtures that hang vertically. The vertical flow is appealing for me as it appears as a light sculpture as opposed to traditional  light fixtures attached horizontally to a roof or awning.

This giant pendant moon light is specially designed for those who are obsessed with aerospace and galactic stuff. The appropriately named Luna globe pendant light by  Design Ocilunam brings a little piece of aerospace into your home. The appropriately named Luna globe pendant light by Design Ocilunam brings a little piece of heaven into your home. The Luna pendant light comes in five sizes, measuring 35cm, 50cm, 70cm, 80cm and 120cm in diameter. This giant globe pendant is suspended above your decor, gently illuminating your rooms with a soft, ethereal glow. The lights are finished with an authentic-looking surface, and accented by clear bases that really create a sense of floating and space.

Everyone who cannot see at night knows how important lights are on the outside of your home or any building for that matter. Bearing this in mind every light needs a fixture. There are a lot of places online and offline where you can look at and buy outside light fixtures, but it isn't always easy to know where the best deals can be found for these items. That is what I am here for. I am going to list a few websites that you can start from in your search for the best deals on your next purchase of outdoor lighting fixtures online.

Before we start though, you need to understand that pricing is going to vary depending on the quality that you desire. There are your simple and plain outdoor lighting fixtures that you can get for a very reasonable price and if you are a landlord looking for a light for your rental, this is probably what you are going  to want to install. On the other hand if you are living in a high end home and want only the best look that is not only going to add style and compliment your home, but add some value as well, then you are definitely going to need to spend a bit more.

One of the first sites that I want to talk about is a site called shopoutdoorlighting.com. This site is definitely all about what it says. This site carries a wide range of different syles to choose from including your traditional carriage house lights, comtemporary outdoor lights, energy rateed lights and more. The thing that really caught my eye about this site is the fact that they offer free shipping on all of their products and not based upon a spending limit. This si a hard quality to find in a business these days. They have total phone support and are open 7 days a week for convenience.

The next online lighting shop that I want to talk about is a site called exterior lighting universe. This is another typical looking ecommerce site, but what acaught my eye wit hthis site is the fact that they offer a 110% low price guarantee. This site wishes to do business with you to the point of giving you a 10% better deal than any other website online for the same product found advertised elswhere and this includes shipping and handling. The only problem that I see wit hthis is you might very well spend a bit of time finding the exact product somewhere else. Still with a site like this you know that  they are going to at least have few good deals and sales going on. As far as free shipping with this site, you only get it on oreders of more than 49 dollars.

The last site that I am going to talk about is Lampsplus.com. This site goes a step further that the previous site to try and secure your business by offering a 120% price protection policy. They say that is within 60 days you find the exact smae prodcut for cheaper than what you paid with them, then they will match their price and refund you an extra 20% on your purchase. Sounds like a no brainer really. This site has free shipping on some items, but from what i have seen you are going to have to pay shipping for most items. This is a quality site with much more to offer than simply outdoor lighting, so if you are in the market for some interior home decor as well os outside light fixtures then this could be a good place to find a great deal.

This sums up my top 3 picks for today on some quality sites to start your search for outdoor lighting fixtures. There are a ton more out there and you definietly should look around, if for no other reason than to try and get one of these sites to cut you a better deal on their products by finding it cheaper somewhere else. I don't receive any type of commission from these sites or incentive for saying anything about them, I am simply trying to provide a service in the confusing and huge land called the internet.

In this article, I wanted to go a little further in depth into hybrid solar lighting. My first article can be found under Hybrid Solar Lighting Technology.

Hybrid solar lighting is the new buzzword in the energy sector. Unlike standard solar lights, hybrid solar lighting is relatively new and uses a combination of technologies. Conventional solar lights use solar energy and convert it into electrical energy to light the bulb. In the newer version, the sunlight is mirrored indoors using a collector and optical light cables. When there is enough sunlight, there is no electricity used to power the bulbs. On a not-so-sunny day, the electricity generated by the solar energy is used to light the bulbs.

Hybrid solar lighting technology has been in use for some years now but because of the prohibitively high cost it was relatively unheard of. Solar lights are more affordable and hence they took off faster. However, with much technological advancement taking place in the recent past, hybrid solar lighting now looks to be more attractive; at least for commercial uses. The cost has come down with the global positioning system becoming more affordable and getting the computer accessories manufactured at cheaper price. The hybrid solar system works in a unique manner. The core part of the lighting system is the light collector, which receives and collects the sunlight. Needless to mention, the collector is large and round in shape to enable maximum surface area for the sunlight to fall upon. For those of you who have not seen a solar light collector, it looks similar to a satellite TV dish except that it is larger in size. The collector cells or surfaces are all mirrored to enhance the collection efforts. The collectors used in hybrid solar lighting systems have an interface with the global positioning system. The GPS helps in tracking the sun from sunrise to sunset. The hybrid solar lighting system works on the simple principle to capture as much sunlight as possible. In order to maximize the capturing, the sunlight is diverted to the center of the dish through mirroring.

At the center of the dish, there are numerous optical cables ready to gather the sunrays. A filter is also provided to filter off the harmful UV rays present in the sunlight. The captured sun rays pass through the optical fiber provided and is taken to the inner parts of the building. The receptor dish is positioned at the roof of the building. As the light rays pass through the optical cable, the intensity decreases and hence it is important to capture much more light than what is required for lighting the building. As light travels through the optical cables, there are special fixtures that diffuse the sunlight into all directions. The fixture resembles a conventional incandescent bulb but the difference is that the light coming through the fixtures of the hybrid solar lighting system is direct sunlight. There are also fixtures that can detect the position of the sun. When the intensity of the sunrays diminishes (for example, when the sun hides behind the clouds), these sensors will prompt the lighting fixture to derive power from electricity. The intelligent functioning of the lighting system ensures that there is a constant supply of light inside the building. There are many advantages to hybrid solar lighting. Solar lights became popular because they helped in keeping the environment green. In hybrid lighting, unlike solar lights, there is no change in energy form. Direct sunlight is used for lighting. This helps in reducing the heat produced from light bulbs, especially when compared to incandescent bulbs. Also when compared to fluorescent lights, the hybrid lights produce a full spectrum of light. The full spectrum light is better for the human eye it is actually the sunlight, which is channeled indoors. Colors are seen better when viewed in full spectrum eye and reduces the stress on human eyes.Solar lights use photovoltaic cells to convert solar energy into electrical energy. These cells are capable of converting only 15 percent of the solar energy into electricity whereas the hybrid solar lighting system uses almost 50 percent of the sunlight falling on the collector dish. This definitely provides for a better efficient system since there is maximum utilization of energy. By providing a single collector of four feet size, an area of 10,000 square feet can be lit up. Since the heat produced is lesser, there is also lesser use of air conditioning system inside the building, which again goes on to conserving energy. The downside of hybrid solar lighting system is that it can currently be used for single story buildings only. In addition, since it is still expensive, it is more viable for commercial uses rather than for residential purposes. Lot of research is still happening and there is a positive trend in the use of renewable sources of energy. Considering the benefits and the market trend, one can safely assume that hybrid solar lighting is the future of solar lights.

Outdoor lighting is a simple improvement that can make a huge difference in the safety and security of your home as well as how it looks after dusk. It is always recommended that a professional electrician install these types of systems.

Outdoor lighting is usually installed along walkways, steps, and driveways, pointing up at trees, walls, and fences. The typical outdoor low-voltage landscape lighting system requires just three components: a transformer, low-voltage electrical cable, and the fixtures.

Outdoor lighting uses low-voltage light fixtures linked by a low-voltage cable and connected to a low-voltage transformer, which plugs into an outdoor receptacle and reduces the standard 110-volt current to 12 volts.

Outdoor lights can be a wonderful thing to invest in. They will add much more character to your home, and provide a whole new area for you to enjoy after the sun has gone down.

The choices of lighting fixtures available for us today are limitless and comes in an array of styles with different functions which is why is important for us to have a basic understanding on what type of lighting fixture serves a specific purpose. The right lighting fixtures can work wonders for your home. Useful not only for illuminating certain tasks, the right lighting can also serve to accentuate your home’s style and décor. If carefully chosen and properly installed, light fixtures can add beauty and drama both indoors and outdoors. Likewise, the right type of lighting can boost safety and comfort in and around your residence.

Most of us are familiar with “interior design” or “landscape design” yet not particularly concerned about “lighting design”. Fact is, proper lighting design can make all the difference in how your home will look and feel; it can dramatically alter the appearance of your home and can transform a boring living space into a soothing and stunning showpiece. Lighting design goes far beyond choosing appealing fixtures and plugging them in. At its most basic, lighting design involves employing different light levels that work together to highlight unique features of each room and address specific illumination requirements. Understanding the fundamentals of lighting is the key in selecting home lighting fixtures.

A good lighting design should also provide more efficient light sources so that it can translate into savings in terms of money and energy. According to a survey of realtors, home buyers respond positively to homes that are well lit. Some suggest that a well-designed lighting scheme could give you a competitive advantage and make your home stand out in the crowd.
