Three dimensional, full color design applications are ideal for the progressive homeowner interested in having a three dimensional preview of their landscaping plans, or for the Realtor who wants to offer their clients an in-depth look of what prospective properties could look like when creative landscaping details are added.

Also, for the savvy commercial builder
who wants to provide an exact rendering showing what professional landscaping can do for a residential or commercial project's appearance to increase sales both on a national and international level. For the business-owner or home-owner who wants to beautify
their surroundings with plant life that blooms all year round,
landscape design in 3d gives the otherwise impossible ability to see
what their landscaping efforts will look like without waiting for the seasons to change or by simply trying to visualize.Whether you want to add custom details to your outdoor space such as water features, including ponds, swimming pools, fountains, or waterfalls, or perhaps see what it would look like to completely change your entire backyard around, landscape design in '3d rendering’ (still life) is the best way to realize your plans quickly and easily. With three dimensional rendering, you are able to see objects and how well they look in conjunction with others without the need for purchasing any supplies ahead of time.

Landscape design in '3d modeling' (animation) gives you an even more realistic view of your dream plans and how to create the perfect outdoor environment right in your own backyard. 3d animation and walk-throughs, also called fly-throughs or flybys, create a feeling as if you are actually there, walking around admiring your newly landscaped surroundings. Garden beds can be "moved", the textures and colors of flowers and shrubs can be changed. Choose between a wide array of cement and stone features such as patios and walkways with a few clicks of the mouse when utilizing the numerous benefits of 3d landscape design.

Landscape Design in 3d can also be viewed in a more traditional plan view style as shown here in the picture above. Conceptual tools such as photo montage rendering give one a sneak preview of their finalized plans and provide the opportunity to make changes from the rather obvious to the barely noticeable. Computerized renderings, as opposed to the traditional illustrations drawn by hand, are extreme time savers, not to mention the great potential for saving a considerable amount of money when all of your plans are finally said and done. Receive complimentary referrals from the3d experts at Landscape Design Advisor, a leader in the virtual world of luxury landscaping. We provide you with the most up-to-date information about the world of three dimensional designs as well as direct you toward the most knowledgeable leaders in the industry.

Landscapes of three masters

It’s said that the history of art could be described as a continuous succession of separate styles, each of them progressing from a beginning to a culmination and ultimate decline . Landscape painting was thought to have followed such a pattern. Landscape decor has once flourished in the antiquity, mainly in the form of frescoes as decoration of houses and palaces. In the Mid- Ages, landscape pictures were not much appreciated anymore because no one had a proper appreciation for nature or the ability to transform it into art. The whole purpose of image was to serve the teachings of the Church. The depiction of nature was relegated merely to the backgrounds of religious paintings and illuminated manuscripts . Early Christian art made use of pictorial conventions inherited from antiquity. Every element in the painting had a symbolic and allegorical meaning. The Italian Renaissance stimulated an interest in the relationship between human being and nature, which developed a new zest for nature. The science of perspective and topography also demanded a completely new method of studying nature. It is at that time when artists started to step out of their studios and observe nature with their own eyes.

 Outdoor Security Lighting Overview

Statistics show that crimes are less likely to occur in well lit areas, because a well-lighted property is an excellent deterrent against criminals. Although nothing is guaranteed to prevent malicious activity or guarantee personal safety, outdoor security lighting is one of the most practical and effective ways to prevent crime in or around your home or office.
An outdoor security lighting system is a deterrent because it exposes the criminal, who looks for areas with little to no lighting. Well lit areas increase the risk of detection for criminals and makes them less confident about taking the risk of entering your property.
The main objectives of an outdoor security lighting system are to illuminate dark areas and detect and recognize movement in the protected area.
The best vision with outdoor lighting is obtained from downward directed and shielded security lighting that is constantly on, supplemented with instant-on lighting triggered by motion detectors.
Note: It is important to position security lights high up and well out of reach, so they cannot be disabled by intruders. Overall, the best position is mounted as high as possible on your property in a downward position for safe and reliable operation.
You can buy many different types of security lights and outdoor security lighting systems, so it is best to divide security lighting into two lamp categories:
  • High Intensity Discharge (HID)
  • Halogen or Incandescent.
High Intensity Discharge Lights
HID-outdoor-security-floodlight

HID lights  are energy efficient, long lasting and for this reason are commonly used in landscape lighting. The most popular HID lights are the mercury vapor types, which are blue-green colored. The other common types of outdoor flood lights are:

All of these sources require a warm-up period in order to return to full intensity if the power goes off. As such they are not designed for immediate use for example with motion detectors and should be therefore be used in conjunction with other sources for instant on lighting.
Halogen or Incandescent Lights
Halogen lights operate on standard house current and are often used as floodlights. They are ideal for instant-on applications because they require no warm up period. These security lights work well in combination with HID lighting as supplemental security lighting. They are not power efficient so are less suited to continuous use.

Motion Detectors
floodlight-with-built-in-motion-detector
devices sense movement and turn outdoor security lights on when motion is detected and are ideal for both security lighting and energy management. Because they switch the lights off and on constantly, they are designed to control halogen or incandescent sources and cannot be used to control HID lights..

Best Landscape Photos
When it comes to capturing the feeling of a landscape, I have to say that it is hard.  Back in college, I took quite a few classes with photography and all we did was landscape photography and to capture the very essence of the landscape and finding the right angle can be extremely difficult.  Fashion photography is all about making it look different and real.  You have models, you can move them and you can definitely have a bit more flexibiliy.
When you are taking a picture of the landscape itself, you have to move yourself in order to find the best angle, you can not move the landscape.  D.L Ennis is honestly one of the best landscape photographers in the world.  Not only is this picture incredible, but it honestly captures the essence of the world around it and I just think that is very important when you are trying to take a picture of the landscape.
Landscape photography is also a great place to start learning photography as you will not have nearly as many distractions.  So if you are looking to snap a few pictures, get out your camera and go outside and start snapping pictures!

Landscape Design

You and your eco-conscious wife want to go green. Looking for inspiration, you wander through the lush, 250-acre forest, flower and plant habitat of the New York Botanical Gardens. You marvel at the 3,000 fragrant roses of the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden, and are wowed by the exotic tropical rain forest in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. Later, you resolve to turn your weed-infested backyard — more closely resembling a junkyard of trashcans, beer bottles, and the rusting remains of discarded bikes — into a horticultural Eden. To that end, you decide to hire a landscape designer.

What Is It?
Landscape design is the art of creating, designing, or modifying the features your garden or landscape to suit your aesthetic and horticultural sensibilities. Landscaping is often divided into hardscape design and softscape design. Landscape designers attempt to make your creative outdoorsy dreams come true.
landscape-design
Landscape design is the art of creating, designing, or modifying the features your garden or landscape to suit your aesthetic and horticultural sensibilities.

Who Needs It?
Nature-lovers.
Benefits
Well-designed gardens reflect strong symmetry and structural forms. A qualified landscaper will tell you you’ll need to assimilate your backyard’s “hardscape” – the retaining walls, decks, pergolas, waterfalls, pools, and ponds – with the “softscape” of planting and turf. If you’re talking about a backyard in Brooklyn Heights, the chances are slim you’ll be incorporating pools, waterfall, and ponds in your landscaping plans, unless, of course, you’re a billionaire bud of Mayor Mike Bloomberg, counseling the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Your softscape is dedicated to a horticultural “look,” say, one inspired by a Peruvian Jungle, a Mexican desert, or simply eye-catching native plants, placed at cool angles, with multiple and narcotic focal points. Zoom in on any famous landscape painter to cop a harmonious look. As you step out the backdoor, or though an arbor, then navigate a path through your backyard, it’s all about feeding the mind with different spaces, surfaces, and experiences.
For instance, in choosing plants or flowers, you may be drawn to color. Members of the Westchester Garden club might call that strategy tacky, but with the guidance of a talented landscaper, you’ll surmount their protestations. If you like blues, your landscaper might suggest Caryoptersus (“Snow Fairies) whose clumps of fuzzy green leaves are topped with blue curls in autumn. If you dig striped grass with burgundy inflorescences in October, he or she might lay down some Miscanthus Sinensis – or, “Gold Bar.” Into lavender? A knowledgeable landscaper’ll turn you on to Cercis Canadensis (“Hearts of Gold”) whose big, sexy heart-shaped leaves burst with lavender-red flowers in the spring.
(In these shady financial times, a shrewd landscaper will also know that suppliers are throwing away royal palms, oak trees, tabebuias – you name it. He’ll be able to pick up a lot of plants, trees, and flowers for 30 to 40 cents on the dollar.)
A wise landscaper will also hip you to the supreme importance of soil quality. They love the smell of dirt. Some landscaping mystics will tell you, there’s no real scientific process involved – it’s an inherited thing. But while raving about the wonder and mysteries of nature, you want a landscaper who knows his or her way around scientific usefulness of organic fertilizers and sprays, including kelp meal, rock phosphate, green sand, humate, and compost. Not only is good soil paramount, so is proper watering, irrigation, and drainage. When the roots of your backyard’s population of trees, plants, and flowers go down, you want a nice thick soil layer that retains moisture, so everything thrives.
Some landscaping gurus will advocate laying down special tea microbrews to nourish plants and control foliar diseases. (Like the one developed by Norbert Viet.) The process breaks down organic matter, allows vitamin uptake to the plants, and prevents disease. Any discerning landscaper’ll enlist an army of earthworms, too. Dutch-born landscaping genius, Hendrikus Schraven, has refined an organic approach to soil health that includes carefully nurtured microorganisms.
If you’re living large, with a house to die for and money to burn, there are many high-end landscapers with a fleet of Bobcat loaders and excavators who’ll insert a picture-perfect waterfall into the scenery. One with ancient rocks and looks like it’s been part of the landscape for at least a couple of centuries. These high-end landscapers are experiencing especially hard times, so if ruthlessness is a dominant personality trait, offer them half what the job normally costs. They’ll happily do tree houses, hot tubs, trellises, decks, bridges, and landslide restorations, too.
Risks
The biggest risk is suddenly not being able to afford the maintenance costs of your awesome oasis of Peruvian monstrosi, bougainvillea, and Alexandria palms. If this turns out to be an unhappy twist of fate, don’t fret. Replace your miniature rain forest with lettuce, beets and tomatoes – a.k.a. landscape reality – and enjoy saving money and eating well.

3 Amazing Landscape Paintings by Pacific Northwest Artist, Mitch Baird

September 2, 2010 Posted by Home and Fashion 0 comments
This week’s featured artist is Mitch Baird, a fantastic Pacific Northwest painter who specializes in beautiful scenic landscapes.
I chose to highlight Mitch’s landscape paintings today specifically because of the way he manages to create a realistic representation of visual space while still retaining a painterly, loose style.
In Humble Homestead, below, our focus is initially drawn to that sunlit house. . . but the very next thing you’ll probably notice is all the space around it!

 Amazing Landscape Painting1

So what are the keys to creating depth in a painting? Just take a look at Mitch’s work and you’ll see them all. In the foreground, colors become more vibrant while brushstrokes become larger and more textural.
Objects far away are correctly rendered much smaller (something that many artists struggle with) and there’s also that lovely “atmospheric haze” that appears—albeit subtly—in the distance.
Beyond all that, let’s not ignore the amazing colors in these paintings. Check out the wide range of hues in this next piece, entitled Moran at Sun Up.

Amazing Landscape Painting2
Instead of a vague “dirt” color, the ground is red, yellow, brown, and green. Mitch’s evergreen trees are a rich, deep, green-black, and those far-off mountains are a gorgeous mixture of pink, orange, cream, purple and blue.
That’s a lot of color for an artist to throw into one painting, but he pulls it off due to an excellent composition.
Note the faint zig-zag pattern that crosses the canvas—it starts as a series of dots in the lower right corner (moving diagonally up and to the left) then “zags” back to the right via a line of trees in the mid-distance. The foothills of the mountains form a third line leading once more to the left.
Using that simple pattern to guide our eyes, Mitch successfully directs us through the lower 2/3rds of the painting, where otherwise we might have gotten lost.
And here’s the last painting I wanted to show you, mostly because I just liked it quite a bit—but many of the same techniques have been employed to make it a successful painting as well.
Amazing Landscape Painting3
If you’d like to see more of Mitch Baird’s paintings, please take a few mintues to visit his online portfolio at www.MitchBaird.com.
